Alloys and pseudoalloys

UJP PRAHA in co-operation with První brněnská strojírna Velká Bíteš, a.s is engaged in projects included in the “Konsorcium” (Consortium) Research Programmes administered by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. Subprojects addressed by UJP PRAHA fall in three fields of technology:

  • Development of heat-resistant and high-temperature corrosion-resistant nickel alloys, which find application in castings for extremely stressed components of glass industry facilities.
  • Research into the mechanical and physical properties and heat treatment of heat-resistant alloys with a view to using the precision casting technology in the manufacture of gas turbine blades and blade carrier segments.
  • Optimization of metallurgical processes with respect to the incidence and nature of casting defects in castings obtained by the precision casting technology.

Theoretical and experimental work is conducted with a view to gaining insight into the structure processes occurring at high temperatures and into the relations between structure and mechanical properties. The basic objective is to obtain a sufficient volume of information regarding structural stability of nickel alloys and degradation of mechanical properties during a long-term action of heat, enabling us to set up a reliable database for addressing the design of castings during their introduction into technological practice.
