Packagings manufactured by UJP PRAHA serve a safe transport and/or storage of radioactive substances. Based on customer’s demands, UJP PRAHA develops and manufactures Type IP, Type A and Type B(U) packagings in which radioactivity is shielded off by depleted uranium, a tungsten alloy, lead, polyethylene or paraffin.

The various radioactive package types are specific as follows:

• Industrial Type 1, 2 and 3 packages containing low mass activity and surface contaminated objects
• Type A packages for the transport of special form radioactive substances up to the A1 level or any other radioactive substance up to the A2 level (the A1 and A2 levels are specified by international and national rules for the transport of radioactive substances)
• Type B(U) packages – such packagings are subject to design type approval and authorization of radionuclides to be transported in them, their form and maximum permissible activity.
